Ιδρύθηκε Ορθόδοξη Θεολογική Σχολή στη Γκάνα της Αφρικής
Μετά την κυριακάτικη Θεία Λειτουργία στις 9 Νοεμβρίου, που τελέσθηκε στον καθεδρικό ιερό ναό Μεταμορφώσεως του Χριστού στην Ακκρα, πραγματοποιήθηκε η επίσημη τελετή έναρξης της Σχολής Ορθόδοξης Θεολογίας και Πολιτισμού «Αγιος Κύριλλος Λούκαρις», σύμφωνα με ανακοινωθέν της Μητρόπολης Ακκρας.
Η Σχολή ιδρύθηκε με πρωτοβουλία της Ιεράς Μητροπόλεως Ακκρας, σε συνεργασία με το Ιόνιο Πανεπιστήμιο της Ελλάδος, κατόπιν υπογραφής σχετικού Μνημονίου Συνεργασίας το 2024, με σκοπό την ενίσχυση της Θεολογικής Παιδείας και την προώθηση του ορθόδοξου πολιτισμού στην αφρικανική ήπειρο.
Οι πρώτοι τριάντα φοιτητές της Σχολής έχουν ήδη ξεκινήσει, προ μηνός, τα μαθήματά τους, υπό την ακαδημαϊκή καθοδήγηση και πνευματική μέριμνα εθελοντών καθηγητών από την Ελλάδα, τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες και διάφορες χώρες της Αφρικής. Με ζήλο, αγάπη και ιεραποστολικό φρόνημα, οι εκπαιδευτικοί αυτοί διδάσκουν στους νέους τη γνώση και το ήθος της Ιεράς Επιστήμης.

Κατά τη διάρκεια της τελετής, οι φοιτητές έψαλαν ύμνους, σηματοδοτώντας την έναρξη του νέου αυτού πνευματικού έργου. Ακολούθησαν οι εισαγωγικές ομιλίες του πανοσιολογιοτάτου Αρχιμανδρίτου Αιδεσίου Mukeke, εκπροσώπου του διδακτικού προσωπικού, και του φοιτητή κ. Αλκιβιάδου Yaw Obeng Adjei, ο οποίος, εκπροσωπώντας το σώμα των σπουδαστών, αναφέρθηκε στον βίο και την προσφορά του Αγίου Κυρίλλου του Λουκάρεως, φωτεινού Προκαθημένου του Πατριαρχικού Θρόνου Αλεξανδρείας.
Ακολούθως, ο Σεβασμιότατος Μητροπολίτης Ακκρας κ. Δανιήλ τέλεσε την Ακολουθία του Αγιασμού, ευλογώντας την έναρξη του νέου εκπαιδευτικού θεσμού και αναπέμποντας δεήσεις για την πρόοδο και επιτυχία των φοιτητών και διδασκόντων.
Στη συνέχεια, ο Σεβασμιότατος απηύθυνε πατρικό λόγο προς τους παρευρισκομένους, μεταφέροντας τις θερμές ευχές και την πατρική ευλογία του, Μακαριοτάτου Πατριάρχου Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής κ. Θεοδώρου Β. Εξέφρασε, επίσης, τις βαθύτατες ευχαριστίες της Ορθόδοξης Εκκλησίας της Γκάνας προς τους ελλογιμότατους καθηγητές της Σχολής, οι οποίοι, με πνεύμα ιεραποστολικής διακονίας, αποδέχθηκαν να συνδράμουν στο σπουδαίο αυτό έργο της πνευματικής καλλιέργειας και μορφώσεως των νέων της Αφρικής.
Η τελετή ολοκληρώθηκε με την παράδοση των φοιτητικών ταυτοτήτων στους σπουδαστές από τον Σεβασμιότατο Μητροπολίτη κ. Δανιήλ, καθώς και με τη διανομή εκδόσεων ορθοδόξου θεολογικού περιεχομένου, ως πολύτιμου πνευματικού εφοδίου για τη νέα τους πορεία.
Η έναρξη της Σχολής «Αγιος Κύριλλος Λούκαρις» σηματοδοτεί ένα νέο κεφάλαιο στην Ορθόδοξη Εκπαίδευση της Γκάνας, υπηρετώντας τον λόγο της αλήθειας και μεταδίδοντας το φως της Ορθοδοξίας σε κάθε ορθόδοξη κοινότητα της χώρας.
INAUGURATION OF THE THEOLOGICAL SCHOOL IN GHANA
Following the Sunday Divine Liturgy, which was celebrated with great solemnity at the Holy Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Christ in Accra, the official inauguration of the School of Orthodox Theology and Culture “Saint Cyril Lucaris” took place.
The School was established under the auspices of the Holy Metropolis of Accra, in collaboration with the Ionian University of Greece, following the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation in 2024, with the aim of strengthening theological education and promoting Orthodox culture throughout the African continent.
The first thirty students of the School began their studies a month ago, under the academic guidance and spiritual care of volunteer professors from Greece, the United States, and several African countries. With zeal, love, and a spirit of missionary dedication, these educators teach the young students the sacred science of theology and the ethos of the Orthodox faith.
During the ceremony, the students chanted hymns, marking the commencement of this new spiritual endeavour. Introductory addresses were delivered by the Very Reverend Archimandrite Aedesius Mukeke, representing the faculty, and Mr. Alkiviades Yaw Obeng Adjei, representing the student body, who spoke about the life and legacy of Saint Cyril Lucaris, the illustrious Patriarch of Alexandria and beacon of Orthodox theology.
His Eminence Metropolitan Daniel of Accra then celebrated the Service of the Blessing of Waters (Agiasmos), invoking God’s grace upon this new educational institution and offering prayers for the progress and success of both students and teachers.
In his address, His Eminence conveyed the heartfelt blessings and paternal wishes of His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, and expressed the deep gratitude of the Orthodox Church in Ghana to the distinguished professors of the School, who, with missionary devotion, accepted to contribute to this significant work of spiritual education and formation for the youth of Africa.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of student identity cards by His Eminence to the newly enrolled students, along with the distribution of Orthodox theological publications, offered as a spiritual resource for their academic and personal growth.
The inauguration of the “Saint Cyril Lucaris” School of Orthodox Theology and Culture marks a new chapter in Orthodox education in Ghana, dedicated to serving the word of Truth and radiating the light of Orthodoxy throughout the Orthodox communities of the nation.

INAUGURATION DE L’ÉCOLE DE THÉOLOGIE EN GHANA
À la suite de la Divine Liturgie dominicale, célébrée avec grande solennité à la Cathédrale de la Transfiguration du Christ à Accra, s’est déroulée la cérémonie officielle d’inauguration de la « École de Théologie et de Culture Orthodoxe Saint Cyrille Loukaris ».
Cette École a été fondée à l’initiative de la Sainte Métropole d’Accra, en collaboration avec l’Université Ionienne de Grèce, à la suite de la signature d’un Mémorandum de Coopération en 2024, dans le but de renforcer la formation théologique et de promouvoir la culture orthodoxe sur le continent africain.
Les trente premiers étudiants de l’École ont débuté leurs cours il y a un mois, sous la direction académique et le soin spirituel de professeurs bénévoles venus de Grèce, des États-Unis et de plusieurs pays africains. Animés d’un grand zèle, d’amour et d’un esprit missionnaire, ces enseignants transmettent aux jeunes la connaissance et les valeurs de la Sainte Science de la Théologie.
Au cours de la cérémonie, les étudiants ont chanté des hymnes liturgiques, marquant le début de cette nouvelle entreprise spirituelle. Des allocutions d’ouverture ont ensuite été prononcées par le Très Révérend Archimandrite Aedesius Mukeke, représentant le corps professoral, et par M. Alkiviade Yaw Obeng Adjei, représentant les étudiants, qui a évoqué la vie et l’œuvre de Saint Cyrille Loukaris, illustre Patriarche d’Alexandrie et phare de la théologie orthodoxe.
Son Éminence Mgr Daniel, Métropolite d’Accra, a ensuite célébré la Bénédiction des Eaux (Agiasmos), implorant la grâce divine sur cette nouvelle institution éducative et priant pour le succès et la prospérité des étudiants et des enseignants.
Dans son discours, Son Éminence a transmis les bénédictions chaleureuses et la paternelle bienveillance de Sa Béatitude Théodore II, Pape et Patriarche d’Alexandrie et de toute l’Afrique, et a exprimé la profonde gratitude de l’Église Orthodoxe du Ghana envers les éminents professeurs de l’École, qui ont accepté, dans un esprit de service missionnaire, de contribuer à cette œuvre importante de formation spirituelle et intellectuelle de la jeunesse africaine.
La cérémonie s’est achevée par la remise des cartes d’étudiant par Son Éminence aux nouveaux inscrits, ainsi que par la distribution d’ouvrages théologiques orthodoxes, offerts comme précieux viatique spirituel pour leur parcours académique et personnel.
L’inauguration de l’École de Théologie et de Culture Orthodoxe “Saint Cyrille Loukaris” marque une nouvelle étape dans l’éducation orthodoxe au Ghana, au service de la Parole de Vérité et de la diffusion de la lumière de l’Orthodoxie dans toutes les communautés du pays.
